Special Education Teacher in Temple, TX

Exciting opportunity for an experienced Special Education Teacher to support elementary-aged students in a life skills classroom environment. This rewarding contract position is available immediately and runs through May 2027, offering an impactful role in the lives of children requiring dedicated support. You'll be part of a collaborative team, working alongside two paraprofessionals and with access to a Registered Behavior Technician for additional guidance and assistance with students demonstrating significant behavioral challenges.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Current Special Education teaching license with EC–6th content certification required
• Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in a life skills or self-contained classroom setting
• Skilled in managing and supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities, including those with behavioral needs
• Ability to adapt instruction and develop individualized supports and interventions based on student assessments
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and individualized support to a caseload of 8-10 elementary students in a specialized life skills classroom
• Implement IEPs, track progress, and maintain comprehensive documentation
• Collaborate daily with two dedicated paraprofessionals and coordinate with the RBT as needed
• Utilize evidence-based strategies to support communication, academic, and functional living goals
• Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment focused on student growth
• Communicate regularly with families, related service providers, and administrators
