Make a meaningful difference providing specialized support to elementary students as a Special Education Teacher on a contract assignment for the 2026–2027 school year. This opportunity is available for travel professionals passionate about fostering an inclusive learning environment, working onsite with a single, self-contained K–5 classroom comprising 12 students at the elementary level. A dedicated paraprofessional collaborates with you, ensuring each child receives the attention and care they deserve. Some students in this setting may benefit from toileting support or present with autism, giving you a chance to truly impact their educational journey.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Educator Certification in Special Education is required
  • Prior experience managing a self-contained classroom, especially at the elementary level, is highly valued
  • Effective communication skills with students, staff, and families
  • Comfort and competence working with students on the autism spectrum and providing toileting assistance when needed
  • Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and other team members
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans for each student
  • Create engaging, differentiated lesson plans to meet diverse needs
  • Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with families and staff
  • Utilize positive behavioral interventions and supports
  • Ensure the wellbeing and safety of all students, addressing personal care needs as appropriate
  • Partner closely with the assigned paraprofessional for optimal classroom support

This is an onsite-only assignment with a consistent weekday schedule, working 35 hours each week from 7:40am to 3:20pm. The contract extends through May 2027, giving you a chance to build meaningful connections and witness student growth over the academic year.
