Special Education Teacher - Thornton, Colorado

Several full-time contract opportunities are available for Special Education professionals for the upcoming academic year, with single-site assignments at elementary campuses in the Thornton and Westminster area. Opportunities include:

• Learning Specialist (Mild/Mod disabilities) at elementary sites in Thornton and Westminster
• Affective Needs Specialist for students with more significant emotional and behavioral disabilities (leadership of paraprofessional team, familiarity with de-escalation, ABA, and autism support essential)
• Structured Learning Services Specialist for small, self-contained classrooms supporting children with severe cognitive and behavioral needs (team leadership, behavioral strategies, and experience with autism or cognitive disabilities prioritized)

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Colorado Department of Education Teacher License with Special Education Generalist (5–21) endorsement
• Experience supporting students with mild to severe disabilities, including emotional, behavioral, and cognitive challenges
• Familiarity with CPI, ABA, and behavioral interventions, especially for roles serving students with complex needs
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work productively with paraprofessionals and interdisciplinary teams
• Capable of quickly completing district-specific credentialing paperwork prior to assignment start

• Deliver specialized instruction and tailored support to elementary students
• Lead or collaborate with paraprofessional teams to address individual goals
• Develop and implement IEPs based on student needs, partnering with therapists and other providers
• Promote safe, inclusive, and responsive learning environments
• Participate actively in meetings, staff development, and progress monitoring
