Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
  • Endorsement in Cognitive Impairment (CI) required
  • Experience instructing or supporting high school students preferred
  • Familiarity with self-contained classroom management and IEP processes
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
  • Passion for fostering growth in students with diverse learning needs

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with cognitive impairments in a self-contained (9–12) classroom
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Adapt lesson plans and materials to accommodate a variety of learning styles and abilities
  • Track student progress, maintaining accurate and confidential records
  • Collaborate regularly with colleagues, therapists, and families to support each student’s success
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
  • Participate fully in school activities and ongoing professional development
