Qualifications:
- Current South Carolina Special Education (SPED) certification required
- Experience or knowledge in teaching students with mild intellectual disabilities preferred
- Ability to adapt and differentiate grade-level curricula to meet diverse learning needs
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining documentation
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with families, staff, and specialists
- Experience contributing to and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in a core replacement classroom
- Align instructional strategies with each student’s IEP goals and objectives
- Provide targeted teaching in essential academic areas
- Document student progress, accommodations, and modifications accurately
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers
- Participate actively in IEP meetings to help set and review individualized student goals
- Foster a classroom environment that is positive, structured, and inclusive
- Communicate progress and concerns to families and multidisciplinary teams
