An opportunity is available for a full-time Special Education Resource Teacher working with students in grades 3-5. This position involves teaching reading, writing, and math to a group of 20 students, while also case managing 15 students, including five who receive speech-only services. The role is based in a school setting located in Topsham, ME, with a Monday through Friday schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in reading, writing, and math to students requiring special education support.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students.
- Case manage a diverse caseload, ensuring compliance with all special education regulations and providing support for students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
- Collaborate with speech therapists and other related service providers, especially for speech-only cases.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate progress regularly with families and school staff.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students (grades 3-5).
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, best teaching practices, and accommodations.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
