Special Education Teacher - Topsham, Maine

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Maine 282 certification and CHRC clearance (active or obtainable by start date)
• Experience developing and implementing positive behavioral support plans
• Background in designing academic, social-emotional, and behavioral interventions
• Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) preferred
• Willingness to participate in Safety Care training
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and individualized support for K-5 students with diverse needs
• Create, implement, and monitor positive behavior intervention plans
• Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to address academic and behavioral goals
• Utilize MTSS structures for progress monitoring and targeted interventions
• Engage parents and guardians as partners in the educational process
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive student records and documentation
• Participate actively in IEP meetings and contribute to team decision-making
