Step into an impactful role supporting middle and high school learners as a Special Education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity offers you the chance to make a difference in the lives of students in grades 6 through 12, with a particular focus on science. You’ll enjoy a consistent schedule from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday, and work alongside a responsive support team eager to collaborate on classroom models and teaching strategies.

Your expertise in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) will be highly valued, and you’ll actively participate in developing and implementing plans that ensure every student achieves their best. With a manageable caseload of roughly 40-50 students, you’ll be able to foster meaningful connections while challenging and guiding your classes through engaging science content.

Your qualifications:

  • Valid Connecticut Department of Education License with 165 Special Education Endorsement
  • At least two years of recent teaching experience, preferably within special education
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with IEPs, including leading and participating in meetings
  • Confidence and enthusiasm for teaching science to a diverse student population in grades 6-12
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver science instruction tailored to students’ individual learning needs
  • Develop, monitor, and update IEPs in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Collaborate with general education staff and support personnel
  • Maintain thorough documentation and progress monitoring
  • Foster a welcoming and supportive classroom environment
