Special Education Teacher | Torrington, Connecticut

This full-time contract position offers you the opportunity to work with K–7th grade students, fostering growth and providing essential resources to ensure every learner thrives.

This role is ideal for dedicated professionals passionate about serving diverse learning needs in a dynamic school setting. Three resource teachers will be hired, each responsible for a unique student caseload: one for Kindergarten, one for grades 1–2, and one for 7th grade. These in-person positions begin August 2026 and continue through June 2027, Monday through Friday, 35–37.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction and interventions to students with varying abilities
• Develop, implement, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers and support staff
• Serve as both teacher and case manager for assigned students
• Create inclusive learning environments that promote student engagement and achievement
• Communicate regularly with families to support student success
• Maintain accurate records and document student progress

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or related field
• Appropriate state certification or eligibility as a Special Education Teacher
• Experience writing and managing IEPs
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies for diverse learners
• Comfortable with in-person instruction
