Special Education Teacher in Torrington, CT

Inspire and guide young learners as a Special Education Teacher for a first and second grade caseload during the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity is conveniently located near Torrington, CT, with a full-time schedule from August 2026 through June 2027. You’ll make a meaningful impact by supporting diverse learners and collaborating with dedicated educational teams.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching license or certification
• Experience working with elementary students, especially in a special education capacity
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Collaborative spirit and willingness to partner with teachers, support staff, and families
• Adaptability and resourcefulness when supporting students’ varying needs

What You’ll Do:

• Provide direct instruction and support to special education students in first and second grade
• Develop, implement, and track IEP goals and accommodations for your assigned caseload
• Modify curriculum and utilize a range of instructional strategies to promote student success
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
• Communicate progress and collaborate with families, administrators, and student support services
• Maintain accurate records and participate in team meetings
