Special Education Teacher in Townsend, DE

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain)
• Previous experience working with students in elementary grades, especially within self-contained environments, preferred
• Strong ability to manage and support classroom behavior effectively
• Knowledge of evidence-based instructional and behavioral interventions
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with team members, paraprofessionals, and families
• Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom atmosphere

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's goals and needs
• Provide differentiated instruction to support diverse learning styles and abilities
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and other staff
• Foster a caring and supportive environment in self-contained classrooms
• Monitor and document student progress and adjust interventions as needed
• Utilize behavior management techniques to address varying levels of behavioral needs
• Engage in regular communication with families regarding student achievements and needs
