Special Education Teacher in Troy, NC

Make a meaningful impact in students’ lives by supporting two functional skills classrooms as a licensed Adapted Curriculum teacher. This contract role offers the rewarding opportunity to work with dedicated classroom facilitators, providing essential specialized instruction, implementing IEPs, and ensuring students with significant support needs receive the tailored guidance they need to thrive.

In this role, your day will be split between two classrooms: the first half spent with elementary-aged students (6 learners) and the second half with high schoolers (7 learners). Collaboration with current classroom teachers is key, as you’ll lead instructional planning and deliver adapted curriculum content while they facilitate the learning environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Adapted Curriculum teacher certification required
• Prior experience serving students with functional skills or significant support needs strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of IEP implementation and special education compliance
• Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom staff and related service providers
• Strong organizational skills; ideally, comfortable managing caseload paperwork

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct specialized instruction in both elementary and high school settings
• Implement and monitor students’ Individualized Education Plans, ensuring compliance and progress toward goals
• Coordinate lesson planning and instructional strategies with classroom facilitators
• Complete necessary caseload paperwork and maintain accurate records
• Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging classroom culture
