Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity providing vital support as a Special Education Teacher serving a dynamic student population. This role runs from July 2026 through June 2027, offering full-time hours (7:45 am–3:15 pm, Monday to Friday) at a private school dedicated to students with complex needs. The environment is structured around small, self-contained classrooms (8:1:3 ratio), supporting students from middle through high school who present with level 3 autism, severe cognitive disabilities, and significant behavioral or communication challenges—most use alternative, non-verbal methods.

You’ll have the opportunity to work in a setting where innovative, compassionate teaching directly enhances students’ daily experiences. Teachers are compensated for time spent before and after the school day, up to 40 hours weekly, to accommodate paperwork, IEP planning, and lesson preparation—ensuring you have the resources to thrive professionally.

Qualifications include:

  • New York State certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities), or in process of receiving it; candidates with recent Master’s degrees or out-of-state certification are encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred background working with level 3 autism, non-verbal students, or individuals requiring intensive behavior support and alternative communication methods.
  • Experience with adapting curricula, alternative assessments, and supporting students with medical needs is highly valued.
  • Commitment to fostering growth in a diverse and specialized educational community.

The position offers a competitive pay scale between $35 and $50 per hour.
