Special Education Teacher in Troy, NY

As a Special Education Teacher, you'll play a vital role in developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized education plans (IEPs), supporting academic and social development, and fostering an inclusive learning community. Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (Master’s strongly preferred)
• Current or in-progress New York State certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities); recent graduates and those transferring an out-of-state license are encouraged to apply
• Demonstrated experience creating and implementing IEPs is required
• Adept at differentiating instruction for a range of learning abilities (K–12)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
• Dedication to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom environment

Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver individualized instruction based on IEP goals
• Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation
• Collaborate with families, therapists, and staff to ensure comprehensive support
• Participate in annual reviews, parent conferences, and staff meetings
• Utilize evidence-based strategies to promote student engagement and achievement

Role Details & Perks:

• Contract position, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (approximately 35 hours/week)
• Year-round schedule, observing all major holidays and spring break
• Multiple openings across K–10th grade classrooms
• Competitive pay between $35 and $47 per hour, based on experience and education level
