As a Special Education Teacher, you'll play a vital role in developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized education plans (IEPs), supporting academic and social development, and fostering an inclusive learning community. Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (Master’s strongly preferred)
- Current or in-progress New York State certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities); recent graduates and those transferring an out-of-state license are encouraged to apply
- Demonstrated experience creating and implementing IEPs is required
- Adept at differentiating instruction for a range of learning abilities (K–12)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction based on IEP goals
- Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with families, therapists, and staff to ensure comprehensive support
- Participate in annual reviews, parent conferences, and staff meetings
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to promote student engagement and achievement
Role Details & Perks:
- Contract position, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (approximately 35 hours/week)
- Year-round schedule, observing all major holidays and spring break
- Multiple openings across K–10th grade classrooms
- Competitive pay between $35 and $47 per hour, based on experience and education level
