Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Current and active 461 TN Special Education license (required)
- Proven experience teaching in a special education setting, preferably with K-2nd grade
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to different learning needs
- Commitment to developing individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Organizational skills to balance documentation, planning, and direct instruction
- Compassion, patience, and a positive, problem-solving approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students’ individual needs and IEP goals in a self-contained classroom
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning atmosphere
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and administrators to provide comprehensive support
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to families and support teams
- Document academic and behavioral progress in compliance with school and regulatory requirements
- Create opportunities for social, emotional, and academic growth within the classroom
