Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification
  • Experience with students exhibiting severe behaviors
  • Proficiency in writing and implementing Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) and IEPs
  • Prior work in self-contained classroom environments, preferably grades K-6
  • Restraint training highly preferred
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Commitment to fostering independence, self-regulation, and academic growth

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction and support in a K-6 self-contained classroom setting
  • Design and implement individualized curriculum and interventions
  • Develop and maintain thorough BIPs and IEPs for students
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and family members
  • Track student progress, make data-driven adjustments, and report regularly
  • Employ de-escalation techniques and, when necessary, appropriate restraint as trained
  • Cultivate a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment
