Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching credential (or eligibility for one)
  • Experience working with middle school students in a special education setting, particularly moderate to severe disabilities
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and support staff
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
  • Experience with behavior management and differentiated instruction
  • Passion for fostering an inclusive, supportive, and positive classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, adapt, and implement individualized education plans for students within a self-contained SDC classroom
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to facilitate student growth
  • Maintain accurate records, document progress, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and behavior supports
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom that promotes learning and independence
  • Monitor, assess, and report student progress toward academic and social-emotional goals
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities
