Special Education Teacher in Union, SC

Qualifications & Credentials:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required
• Valid South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) teaching license in a designated special education area such as Learning Disabilities, Multi-Categorical, or Emotional Disabilities
• Previous experience as a special education teacher in a school setting is strongly preferred
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to adapt instruction based on individual student needs and IEPs

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction and interventions to meet diverse student needs in accordance with IEP goals
• Develop, adjust, and implement effective lesson plans for students with exceptionalities
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to optimize student success
• Monitor progress, complete required documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
• Foster a positive, encouraging classroom culture that values each student’s strengths

This contract spans the full academic year, from early August through late May, following the district school calendar with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours. Caseload assignments will be determined prior to your start date.
