Step into a fulfilling contract position serving as a Special Education Teacher within an elementary Structured Learning Classroom. Support a diverse group of students, grades 1, 2, and 4, primarily working with children with Autism. You'll work closely within a reversed inclusion classroom model, collaborating with a general education lead teacher and a supportive team of two paraprofessionals, ensuring that each student receives personalized attention and the strategies they need to thrive in the classroom environment.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Familiarity with or experience utilizing structured learning classroom models
- Background working with students with Autism and knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles is a plus
- Ability to individualize instruction and adapt materials for diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with paraprofessionals and general education teachers
- Experience delivering both pull-out and inclusion services for students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to a caseload of approximately 8 students, modifying the general education curriculum to meet IEP goals
- Work collaboratively to support classroom management and individualized behavioral interventions
- Lead pull-out sessions for sensory, behavioral, or academic support as needed
- Coordinate with paraprofessionals, supporting the needs of students including one with a dedicated 1:1 paraprofessional
- Collect data on student progress and regularly communicate with families and staff on achievements and challenges
