Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting 8th grade students in a dynamic middle school environment. This position is split between two nearby locations, providing both co-taught and resource-based instruction. You’ll have the chance to make a meaningful difference in small-group settings, working directly with approximately 8-10 students in resource classes each day.

Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid Illinois LBSI (Learning Behavior Specialist I) certification required
  • Demonstrated experience in middle school special education, preferably in co-taught and resource settings
  • Ability to effectively manage schedules across two sites separated by a brief drive
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills, especially with resource support
  • Self-starter who can operate independently yet collaborate within a team atmosphere
  • Passion for fostering academic and personal growth among diverse learners

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction for 8th grade students, both independently and in collaboration with general education teachers
  • Support individualized learning plans and adapt curriculum to meet students’ unique needs
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and success
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communication with staff and families
  • Participate in professional activities, including staff meetings and new teacher orientation (if onboarding occurs in early August)
  • Uphold a Monday-Friday schedule, with standard staff contract hours and a 30-minute daily lunch
