Support student success and growth as a contract Special Education Teacher working with a diverse mix of middle and high school students in Mansfield, Connecticut. This rewarding role places you in both resource and self-contained classroom settings, focusing on English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. Collaborate closely with a fellow Special Education Teacher to manage a shared caseload of approximately 30 students, allowing for focused attention and meaningful progress with your group.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Endorsement; strong candidates eligible with a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP) also considered
- At least 2 years of recent special education teaching experience
- Demonstrated ability to write, implement, and manage IEPs
- Confident in attending, presenting, and contributing to IEP meetings
- Skilled with student assessment, data collection, and goal tracking
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction and support across both resource and self-contained classrooms
- Collaborate on a caseload of 30 students, with personal management of 14-16 students
- Write comprehensive IEPs, conduct required student testing, and ensure compliance
- Attend and present at IEP meetings, working constructively with parents and multidisciplinary teams
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals
- Engage in ongoing communication and collaboration with classroom staff and related service providers
