Step into a rewarding position supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. This contract role runs from August 17th through May 28th, offering a consistent full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week. You’ll be working with a class of around 15 students in a dynamic, collaborative environment, using all-resource and co-taught teaching models. While there may not always be paraprofessionals or teaching assistants in the room, your expertise and dedication will be key in helping students reach their full potential.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Special Education
- Previous experience in a middle school or resource/co-taught setting preferred
- Deep understanding of IEP implementation and differentiation strategies
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive, and structured learning environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction for students with a range of learning needs in resource and co-teaching settings
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to individual student goals
- Collaborate with general education staff to adapt lessons and assessments
- Track progress and provide data-driven feedback to students, families, and educational team members
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with school and state guidelines
- Encourage independence and self-advocacy among students
