Special Education Teacher in Wappingers Falls, NY

Multiple openings are available serving learners from preschool through grade 12 in a variety of educational settings, with immediate start dates. These contract positions offer an opportunity to work 37.5 hours per week supporting children with diverse learning needs.

Current opportunities include placements in preschool, elementary, and middle school classrooms at center-based programs and educational facilities. Your expertise will be instrumental in fostering academic, social, and emotional growth for students requiring specially designed instruction.

Qualifications:

• Valid New York State Special Education Teacher Certification for the appropriate grade bands
• Master’s Degree in Education required
• Experience working with children or adolescents in special education settings preferred
• Strong understanding of IEP processes, curriculum adaptations, and differentiated instruction
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students with special needs in preschool through middle school
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines
• Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to support student achievement
• Monitor and document student progress, adapting strategies as needed
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student independence and confidence
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development opportunities
