Special Education Teacher - Wappingers Falls, NY

Contract opportunities are available for Special Education Teachers in the scenic Middletown and Wappingers Falls, NY area. Multiple openings allow you to select a classroom that matches your experience, including preschool through grade 8 settings.

Positions are available for the following age groups and grades:

• Preschool (Executive Drive Preschool, Myers Corners Education Center, Hyde Park Education Center)
• Kindergarten through grade 3
• Grades 5-8 and grades 6-8
• Universal Pre-K (UPK) programs

Educators will work a consistent, full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, supporting students’ individual learning plans and collaborating with dedicated interdisciplinary teams. These roles provide unique opportunities to shape classroom experiences and foster developmental and academic growth for students in specialized settings.

Qualifications:

• Current NY State Special Education Teacher Certification, appropriate for the grade/age level assigned
• A master’s degree in education (MA in Education) required
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs
• Strong skills in communication, patience, and empathy
• Experience or comfort supporting diverse learners in inclusive and self-contained classrooms
• Passion for fostering a supportive learning environment

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
• Collaborate with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and families
• Use data to track student progress and adjust instruction
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom community
