Grades 6 - 8 K-5 Special Ed Teacher - Wappingers Falls, New York

A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available for certified educators specializing in Grades K-5, 6-8, or 9-12 to work with preschool to age 22 students. This contract role starts after background clearance, with an anticipated start date of June 26, 2026. Candidates may also have the opportunity to participate in a six-week summer program.

Location: Wappingers Falls, NY

Work Schedule:

• Monday through Friday
• Full-time, 35 hours per week
• Daily shifts: 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction and support to groups of 6 to 8 students with diverse needs, including verbal and non-verbal communication abilities.
• Collaborate with 3 support staff per classroom to implement behavior strategies and individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Manage classroom dynamics and support students exhibiting varying behaviors with trained staff assistance.
• Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning levels and maintain a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications:

• NY State Special Education Teacher Certification for one or more of the following grade ranges: K-5, 6-8, or 9-12.
• Master’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
• Experience working with students ages preschool through 22, including those with behavioral challenges.
• Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team to support student progress.
