This full-time contract position (35 hours per week) offers the opportunity to work with diverse learners and collaborate with a dedicated support team, serving both elementary and older student populations. With a robust caseload structure and a strong emphasis on teamwork and training, you'll help foster growth for students at various developmental and communication levels.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State Special Education Teacher Certification for the appropriate grade bands (K-5, 6-8, 9-12)
  • Master’s degree in Education (MA)
  • Experience supporting students from preschool to grade 3 as well as ages 12-22
  • Skilled in working with children who are both verbal and non-verbal, including those with behavioral needs
  • Comfortable collaborating within a classroom team structure (1 teacher, 3 staff per 6-8 students)
  • Ability to adapt instruction and promote an inclusive classroom environment

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
  • Foster social, emotional, and academic development in students with varying abilities and communication styles
  • Work closely with staff and related service providers to ensure a cohesive educational approach
  • Manage and support student behaviors with empathy and consistent strategies
  • Communicate effectively with families and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Integrate evidence-based instructional methods and adaptive technology as appropriate
