Certified K-5 Special Education Teacher | Wappingers Falls, New York

An exciting contract opportunity is available for a skilled Special Education Teacher with New York state certification and a passion for making a lasting impact. This position runs from completion of background checks through June 26, 2026, with an optional six-week summer program extension.

Your days will be thoughtfully scheduled (8:30 am – 4:00 pm or 8:00 am – 3:30 pm), totaling 35 hours weekly. You will work primarily with preschool through 3rd grade at this time, as well as students ages 12–22, focusing on small classroom environments. Caseloads are designed to foster individualized attention and support:

• 8 students per class, with 1 teacher and 3 staff members
• 6 students per class, with 1 teacher and 3 staff members
  You’ll encounter students at varied skill levels, including both verbal and non-verbal learners, and work alongside a well-trained, collaborative team adept at supporting children with behavioral needs.

What you bring:

• Valid New York Special Education Teacher certification in appropriate grade levels
• Master’s degree in Education
• Experience and enthusiasm for working with students from preschool to grade 12, including those with behavioral challenges
• Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
• Dedication to individualized instruction and inclusive education principles

• Creating adaptive lesson plans tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
• Delivering engaging instruction and interventions in both academic and social-emotional domains
