Apply NowStep into an impactful contract position designed for certified Special Education Teachers who excel at working with diverse student populations across early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school levels. This full-time opportunity begins once background checks are completed and extends through June 26, 2026. There is also an option to teach during a 6-week summer program for those interested in year-round engagement.
In this dynamic setting, you’ll support students in managed classrooms with a maximum of 12 learners at a time. Caseloads include smaller class ratios, with groups as intimate as six or eight students, supported by additional dedicated staff to provide a collaborative and supportive environment. Students present a range of abilities, including both verbal and non-verbal communication and varying behavioral needs. You will use your expertise and compassionate approach alongside well-trained colleagues to help every student reach their full potential.
Qualifications:
- Valid NY State Special Education TEACH certification, appropriate to grade level assignments
- Master’s degree in Education required
- Experience creating inclusive classroom environments for students with varying support needs
- Strong classroom management skills, with sensitivity to behavioral interventions
- Committed to individualized instruction and team collaboration
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement effective Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Foster a positive, supportive learning environment for students of all ability levels
- Collaborate with other teachers, therapists, and aides to meet each child's needs
- Document student progress and communicate clearly with families and team members
- Participate in regular professional development and staff training sessions
