Middle School Early Childhood Special Education Teacher in Wappingers Falls, NY

As a Special Education Teacher, you’ll have the chance to empower students with diverse needs, helping them grow both academically and personally. This full-time position features a schedule of 35 hours each week, starting once the background process is complete and lasting through June 26, 2026, with the option to participate in a dynamic six-week summer program.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate flexibility and compassion, adapting instruction for a range of abilities—both verbal and non-verbal students, including those exhibiting challenging behaviors. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated team, benefiting from on-site training and a supportive staff-to-student ratio. Classes are thoughtfully structured, ensuring manageable workloads: the largest class comprises 12 students per teacher, with additional sections consisting of 8 or 6 students, each supported by 3 staff members for enhanced individualized attention.

Qualifications:

• Valid NY State Special Education Teaching certification for the relevant grade levels
• Master’s degree in Education
• Experience with students who have behavioral and/or communication needs (verbal & non-verbal)
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment

Responsibilities:
