Qualifications & Experience Sought:

  • Active Rhode Island Special Education License is required.
  • Proven experience teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities, preferably in elementary grades.
  • Understanding of adapting curriculum and instructional practices for a range of learning abilities.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to each student's unique strengths and needs.
  • Strong communication skills for working with parents, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom atmosphere.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Teach and support 3rd-5th grade students in a self-contained classroom setting.
  • Design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that align with each student’s IEP goals.
  • Utilize effective classroom management and behavioral support strategies.
  • Collaborate with classroom aides, related service providers, and educational team members regularly.
  • Maintain thorough records, document student progress, and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Adapt educational materials and approaches to ensure accessibility for all learners.
