Make a meaningful impact by supporting students in an elementary Developmental classroom as a Special Education Teacher on a full-time, contract basis. In this role, you’ll work 37.5 hours per week, helping to create an inclusive, positive environment for learners with diverse needs. Your expertise and compassion will guide students on their educational journey while fostering growth, independence, and confidence.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher license for mild to moderate or severe needs (required)
- Prior experience teaching or supporting elementary-aged students with developmental or intellectual disabilities is strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Strong collaboration skills for working with fellow educators, support staff, and families
- Effective communication abilities—both written and verbal
- Dedication to fostering a respectful, encouraging, and adaptive classroom culture
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique strengths and needs
- Adapt lesson plans, instructional materials, and teaching strategies for accessibility and engagement
- Implement data-driven interventions and regularly assess student progress
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals to deliver consistent, well-rounded support
- Provide guidance, structure, and encouragement to help students achieve their personal and academic goals
- Cultivate a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere that nurtures student independence and self-advocacy
- Communicate regularly with families about students’ progress, needs, and successes
