This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a lasting impact in a specialized high school environment for the 2026–2027 school year, supporting a dedicated group of students in a self-contained or sub-separate classroom setting. With 35 hours per week, you’ll be instrumental in fostering positive growth and academic achievement for young people who need it most.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license in the targeted grade band (Secondary required)
  • Commitment to Right to Read Act Compliance: Certified in, or willingness to complete, Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency within the first year
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or severe behavioral challenges, preferably in a self-contained or sub-separate classroom
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with families

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
  • Create a structured, supportive classroom environment tailored to students requiring intensive interventions
  • Employ effective strategies and interventions to manage and support challenging behaviors
  • Collaborate with school teams to ensure progress and compliance with state/federal regulations
  • Foster strong relationships with students, promoting resilience and self-advocacy
  • Guide classroom aides and support staff to enhance instructional outcomes
