This contract opportunity runs through June 2027 and offers the chance to provide vital special education services in a collaborative setting, with potential to work in either a Resource/Inclusion role or a Self-Contained classroom, depending on the district's needs.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for the appropriate grade band (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary)
- Compliance with the Rhode Island Right to Read Act: either certified in Structured Literacy or willing to achieve proficiency within one year of hire
- Experience with elementary-aged students, specifically in resource/inclusion or self-contained classrooms
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to foster an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere
- Adaptability to various instructional models and individualized education plans (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction and support to students with mild-to-moderate disabilities or those in a self-contained environment
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure student success
- Monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
- Maintain accurate records and comply with district and state regulations
- Foster an inclusive, positive learning environment that promotes student growth
