Special Education Teacher | Warwick, Rhode Island

This contract opportunity runs through June 2027 and offers the chance to provide vital special education services in a collaborative setting, with potential to work in either a Resource/Inclusion role or a Self-Contained classroom, depending on the district's needs.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Current Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for the appropriate grade band (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary)
• Compliance with the Rhode Island Right to Read Act: either certified in Structured Literacy or willing to achieve proficiency within one year of hire
• Experience with elementary-aged students, specifically in resource/inclusion or self-contained classrooms
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to foster an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere
• Adaptability to various instructional models and individualized education plans (IEPs)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide targeted instruction and support to students with mild-to-moderate disabilities or those in a self-contained environment
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure student success
• Monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
• Maintain accurate records and comply with district and state regulations
• Foster an inclusive, positive learning environment that promotes student growth

This contract position requires a commitment to 35 hours per week and offers a fulfilling opportunity to help elementary students reach their full potential.
