Take on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting a small elementary classroom of approximately 8 students alongside three experienced teaching assistants. This full-time role runs from October 16, 2026, through January 15, 2027, offering you the chance to make a meaningful impact in a supportive environment.
Work Monday through Friday from 8:15 am to 3:45 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Focus on individualized instruction, helping students reach their fullest potential through tailored learning plans and hands-on support.
What we're seeking:
- Current Rhode Island Special Education Teacher Certification (required)
- Experience working with elementary-aged students in special education settings
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a small group
- Compassion, patience, and exceptional communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, faculty, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student
- Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment
- Adapt curriculum to meet students' academic, behavioral, and social needs
- Work collaboratively with TAs, therapists, and administration to ensure comprehensive student support
- Track progress and communicate regularly with parents and guardians
- Employ evidence-based teaching strategies tailored to diverse learning styles
