Step into a rewarding role guiding middle and high school students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity focuses on grades 6-12, with an emphasis on Science instruction. As part of your role, you’ll work from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday, providing specialized instruction for a caseload of approximately 40-50 students. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss classroom models and available supports during the interview process, ensuring the best fit for your teaching style.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Connecticut Department of Education License with a 165 Special Education Endorsement
  • At least two years of recent teaching experience, preferably with middle or high school students
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Confidence participating in IEP meetings and collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A passion for supporting students’ academic and personal growth, particularly in Science

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging, differentiated science instruction to students with diverse learning needs
  • Creating inclusive, positive learning environments tailored to each student’s unique abilities
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation for compliance and progress monitoring
  • Engaging with families, specialists, and other educators to support student success
