This contract role, lasting the school year, offers a unique opportunity to support young learners within a Bridge 2 classroom environment. Bridge 2 classrooms cater to students who participate in the general education curriculum with substantial modifications to content and pace, emphasizing social skills and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver small and whole group instruction tailored to individual needs aligned with Common Core standards.
  • Implement explicit social skills instruction throughout the daily schedule.
  • Utilize applied behavior analysis (ABA) strategies to increase motivation and reduce behavioral challenges.
  • Facilitate structured inclusion opportunities in general education classrooms according to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize student learning experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure in Special Education.
  • Experience teaching K-2 students in a non-categorical or inclusive setting.
  • Knowledge of modifying curriculum to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Proficient in delivering ABA supports and using assistive communication technology.
  • Strong communication skills to support student engagement and IEP team collaboration.

Location:

  • Washington, DC – established early childhood school setting.

Schedule:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
