Special Education Teacher - Washington, District of Columbia

The position is conveniently located near Washington, DC, with a schedule running from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., totaling 40 hours each week.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teaching license (open to out-of-state credentials; DMV area candidates especially encouraged to apply)
• Experience working in a 4th grade or upper elementary classroom, preferably in ELA
• Proficiency with IEPs and differentiated instruction strategies
• Collaborative mindset for co-teaching across inclusion and resource settings
• Strong communication skills for engaging with students, staff, and families

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver ELA instruction to 4th grade students with varying educational needs
• Collaborate in an 80/20 split between general education inclusion and dedicated special education resource time
• Develop, implement, and update IEPs tailored to students’ needs
• Assist with lesson planning, classroom management, and progress monitoring
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families to support student growth
