Special Ed Teacher | Waterbury, Connecticut

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a middle school resource room setting. This full-time, onsite position runs from late September through the end of December, covering a maternity leave. You will have the unique chance to work closely with 6th–8th grade students, providing essential educational support and fostering growth during a pivotal time in their academic journey.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teaching certification
• Previous experience working with middle school students preferred
• Strong understanding of IEP planning, implementation, and documentation
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload of up to 20 students
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
• Adaptability and problem-solving abilities in a dynamic classroom environment

What You’ll Do:

• Deliver individualized instruction in a resource room setting to students in grades 6–8
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, tracking student progress and adjusting plans as needed
• Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure effective inclusion strategies
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and support strategies
• Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning for all students
• Participate in meetings, professional development, and school initiatives as required
