Be the guiding force in a resource room environment for grades 6–8, empowering students and working closely with fellow educators in a dynamic setting.

Details:

  • Full-time, onsite role
  • Coverage from late September to the end of December
  • Serve 6th-8th grade students, managing a caseload of 20
  • Resource room primary setting with additional co-teaching responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • Valid Connecticut Special Education (SPED) License is required
  • Experience working in middle school settings (grades 6-8) is strongly preferred
  • Confidence in managing a resource room and balancing documentation for a moderate caseload
  • Strong collaborative skills for effective co-teaching and partnerships with faculty
  • Solid knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, and instructional strategies to meet diverse needs
  • Commitment, adaptability, and positive rapport-building with students, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and interventions in a resource room for students with varied learning profiles
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to implement co-taught lessons
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain IEPs, ensuring compliance and personalized support
  • Communicate routinely with families and staff to promote student progress
  • Track and report on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals for each student
  • Foster a safe, inclusive environment for every learner
