Make an impact supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in a collaborative, dynamic setting. This full-time contract opportunity (37.5 hours/week) focuses on delivering high-quality instruction and individualized support to a classroom of approximately 10-12 students in a dedicated program for grades 6-8. You’ll work closely with a skilled team, including a social worker, literacy coach, math teacher, BCBA, behavior technicians, and a teacher assistant, ensuring well-rounded educational and behavioral interventions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Connecticut Special Education certification (or eligibility)
- Prior experience teaching middle school students preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Comfortable working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience supporting diverse learners in academic and social-emotional growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student IEP goals and objectives
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with team members and families to promote student progress
- Collect and analyze data to monitor student performance and adjust strategies as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development
- Utilize evidence-based strategies for academic instruction and behavior management
