Step into a rewarding contract position supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher in a resource classroom setting. This opportunity is based near Waterbury, CT, and calls for an educator eager to make a meaningful difference through both push-in and pull-out service models in New Haven, Connecticut. You’ll manage a caseload of approximately 25 students, collaborating closely with general education teachers to help students achieve their academic and personal goals.

Your daily responsibilities will include writing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), tracking student progress, providing direct instructional support, and conducting student assessments. You will play a pivotal role by attending and presenting at IEP meetings, ensuring each student’s unique needs are addressed in a supportive and inclusive environment.

What you’ll bring:

  • Valid Connecticut Special Education Endorsement (candidates with DSAPs will also be considered)
  • At least 2 years of recent classroom teaching experience
  • Strong background in writing and implementing IEPs
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff

What you’ll do:

  • Support high school students in resource settings using push-in and pull-out approaches
  • Manage a caseload (approx. 25 students) and monitor their goal progression
  • Write comprehensive IEPs, conduct student evaluations, and present at IEP meetings
  • Track academic and behavioral progress and collaborate with school teams
