Special Education Teacher | Waterford, Connecticut

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification required
• Previous experience in a high school or special education classroom preferred
• Strong understanding of neuro-diversity and accommodations for diverse learners
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt curriculum
• Comfortable managing and supporting students in a self-contained setting

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students in a high school self-contained classroom setting
• Develop, implement, and track individualized education plans
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning and behavioral needs of neuro-diverse students
• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
• Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and families to maximize student success
• Maintain accurate, timely records and participate in team meetings
• Implement behavior management techniques and crisis interventions as needed
