Special Education Teacher in Waterford, WI

As a Special Education Teacher working within an 18–21 Year Old Program, you’ll collaborate daily with two fellow teachers and a team of paraprofessionals to support approximately 25 students in a dynamic community-based setting. Here, you’ll help students build independence, enhance communication, and practice vocational and daily living skills, making an impact that extends far beyond the classroom.

What makes this opportunity unique is its real-world focus—students frequently venture out in small groups to different locations, applying their lessons outside traditional walls. With a consistent Monday–Thursday schedule (7:00 am–3:00 pm) and Fridays reserved just for lesson planning and prep (with no student attendance), you’ll enjoy the balance and focus to make each week count.

Qualifications and Experience Sought:

• Valid special education teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience or passion for teaching young adults with diverse abilities
• Strong team player, comfortable collaborating with teachers and paraprofessionals
• Skill in developing and adapting vocational, functional, and social skills curriculum
• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Co-teach a group of 18–21-year-old students in a community-based environment
• Guide vocational training, daily living exercises, and social skills development
• Supervise and support community-based learning experiences off-site
• Collaborate in planning, implementing, and modifying curriculum
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom atmosphere
