A Connecticut school district is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to support a middle school self-contained Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program. This position serves a small, highly supported caseload, allowing for individualized instruction and meaningful relationship-building with students.

Position Details:

  • Location: Connecticut

  • Discipline: Special Education Teacher

  • Schedule: Full time, Monday–Friday

  • Hours: 7:30 AM – 2:40 PM

  • Dates: ASAP – End of School Year

  • Program: Middle school self-contained SEL classroom

  • Caseload: 5 students

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction within a self-contained SEL setting

  • Implement IEP goals focusing on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth

  • Support students with emotional and behavioral needs using trauma-informed and SEL-based practices

  • Collaborate with related service providers, support staff, and administration

  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with special education requirements

  • Communicate regularly with families and the multidisciplinary team

Qualifications:

  • Active Connecticut Special Education certification

  • Experience working in self-contained or SEL/behavior-focused programs preferred

  • Strong classroom management and de-escalation skills

  • Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students
