Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current Special Education teaching certification relevant to Illinois requirements
  • Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong understanding of various learning disabilities and behavioral challenges
  • Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Patience, creativity, and a commitment to adapting instruction for individual student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities
  • Develop, monitor, and update IEPs in accordance with district and state guidelines
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed to optimize learning outcomes
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation as required
  • Work closely with classroom assistants, therapists, and other specialists to ensure coordinated support
  • Foster a positive, respectful classroom culture that encourages student engagement and independence
  • Communicate regularly with families to share progress and strategies for continued learning
