Special Education Teacher - Waukegan, Illinois

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Resource Room Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, on-site role is designed for dedicated SPED educators who are passionate about fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment and making a meaningful difference in students’ lives. You’ll play a key role in providing tailored educational support and advocating for the unique needs of each learner.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid and active Professional Educator License (PEL) required; please have a copy available when applying
• Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher, ideally in a resource room or inclusive classroom setting
• Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation, including progress monitoring and documentation
• Excellent classroom management and communication abilities
• Collaborative mindset to effectively partner with general education staff, families, and support specialists
• Commitment to providing in-person instruction and hands-on student support

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction within the resource room to students with diverse learning needs
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in partnership with multi-disciplinary teams and families
• Adapt general education curriculum to meet the unique strengths and needs of each student
• Employ evidence-based strategies to promote academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
• Maintain detailed, compliant records and track student progress and goals
• Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that celebrates student diversity
