Special Education Teacher in Waukegan, IL

The assignment runs from August 17, 2026, through May 28, 2027, covering approximately 35 hours a week, with dates for new staff training to be announced.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teaching certification for K-5th grade
• Experience working with self-contained classrooms preferred
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Strong classroom management skills and commitment to inclusive education
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with staff and families
• Adaptability and positivity when supporting diverse learners

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to K-5 students with varied abilities in a self-contained classroom setting
• Create engaging, differentiated lesson plans in alignment with IEP goals and state standards
• Monitor academic progress and adjust practices to meet student needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure comprehensive student support
• Maintain accurate records, document interventions, and participate in IEP meetings
