Make a meaningful difference supporting elementary students in a specialized learning environment dedicated to autism education. This full-year contract position, starting August 11th, seeks an LBS1-certified educator passionate about fostering growth and achievement in a self-contained classroom.

You’ll work closely with an enthusiastic team to implement individualized instruction, support social-emotional development, and create a nurturing space where every child is valued and empowered. This is an excellent opportunity for those experienced in or drawn to autism-focused programs, looking to apply best practices and further develop specialized skills.

What you’ll bring:

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement
  • Experience with or strong interest in autism programming; autism endorsement preferred
  • Commitment to differentiated instruction, behavioral supports, and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Enthusiasm for collaborating with support staff, families, and related service providers
  • Demonstrated patience, creativity, and a growth mindset
  • Prior special education classroom experience at the elementary level is highly valued

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and delivering tailored instruction for students in 2nd and 3rd grades
  • Developing and implementing IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
  • Managing individualized supports, accommodations, and behavior plans
  • Tracking progress and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Engaging thoughtfully with families to support student success
  • Creating a classroom community that celebrates each learner’s strengths
