Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher serving elementary students in a resource setting. This full-time position is ideal for educators passionate about supporting diverse learners academically and emotionally. You’ll work with a caseload of 8-12 students in grades K-4, providing both individualized instruction and collaborative classroom support.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) or eligibility for an Illinois PEL; candidates with comparable out-of-state licensure may reference ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) for guidance.
- Experience in special education settings, particularly resource models with both pull-out and push-in services.
- Orton Gillingham training or certification (including SLANT, Wilson, Sonday, or similar) is highly desirable.
- Strong background supporting academic achievement and social/emotional development of elementary-age students.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills for partnering with general educators and families.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver resource model services for students with individualized education needs, balancing direct instruction and in-class support.
- Develop and implement engaging, differentiated lesson plans based on IEP goals.
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers to create inclusive environments and facilitate student success.
- Regularly assess student progress, updating documentation and communicating with families.
- Provide ongoing academic and social/emotional support, helping students reach their full potential.
This position is Monday through Friday (35 hours per week), with a daily 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute unpaid breaks. All work is onsite only.
