Special Education Teacher in Waukegan, IL

Step into a vibrant early childhood environment supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher working with a blended PreK classroom (ages 3-5). This contract position offers the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with a general education teacher and a team of dedicated paraprofessionals, ensuring each student receives personalized guidance and care.

As part of a nurturing and inclusive classroom, you'll play a pivotal role in empowering students with diverse needs, fostering growth, and encouraging social, emotional, and academic development. With no more than 18 students per class and robust support, you’ll have the resources and teamwork needed to make a real impact during these formative years.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teaching certification (appropriate for PreK level)
• Experience with early childhood or PreK populations, especially in inclusive or blended settings
• Strong skills in adapting curriculum and differentiating instruction for a variety of learning needs
• Ability to collaborate fluidly with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service staff
• Positive, empathetic approach to facilitating engagement, growth, and success for all children

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with other educators and families
• Regularly assess student progress, adapting strategies to maximize growth
• Create a supportive, stimulating, and safe learning environment that nurtures social, emotional, and academic skills
• Communicate proactively with families and staff to support holistic development
• Encourage peer interaction and model inclusive practices throughout daily activities
