This contract-based role offers the chance to share your expertise as a Special Education Teacher, working onsite with 11th and 12th graders in an ED (Emotional Disturbance) classroom setting. The assignment will span up to 12 weeks, with coverage beginning in early September and extending through early December.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Valid New York State Teaching License with appropriate high school endorsement
  • Certification required for instruction in ED classroom environments
  • Prior experience supporting secondary students in special education, preferably in a high school setting
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
  • Dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning atmosphere

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to 11th and 12th grade students in an ED classroom
  • Develop individualized lesson plans and modify curriculum as needed
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including parents, counselors, and support staff—to ensure student success
  • Monitor and document student progress, implementing behavioral and academic interventions as necessary
  • Maintain a positive classroom environment that supports growth and development
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the broader school community during the contract period
