Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid PA Special Education Teacher Certification (Instructional I or II), or eligibility and commitment to obtain certification prior to the start date
- Experience working with middle school-aged students, preferably in an emotional support classroom
- Deep understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs), behavioral management strategies, and instructional adaptations
- Able to implement structured routines while remaining flexible to student needs
- Strong commitment to positive reinforcement and relationship-building with students
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with colleagues, administration, and families
- Emergency, temporary, or out-of-state certifications will not be accepted for this role
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and support a caseload currently at 13 students (potentially increasing to 20), fostering their academic, behavioral, and emotional growth
- Develop, implement, and monitor effective classroom routines focused on predictability and consistency
- Create an environment where positive reinforcement builds student confidence and engagement
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to develop individualized strategies for student success
- Manage IEP goals and data tracking, communicating progress with parents and support staff
- Participate in professional development and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices
