Make a meaningful impact by supporting a middle school student with complex needs as a contract Special Education Teacher. This unique, long-term assignment is located near West Chester, Pennsylvania, about 15 minutes west of Philadelphia, and focuses on providing individualized, in-person instruction to a medically fragile, bed-bound student. The position offers 2.5 hours of instruction per week, with potential for additional hours as the student’s schedule evolves. The family is Spanish-speaking, so bilingual (Spanish/English) educators are highly encouraged to apply; if a bilingual provider cannot be found, interpreter support may be arranged.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification
  • Experience working with medically fragile or severely disabled students is strongly preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English highly desired
  • Compassionate, patient, and able to adapt lessons to meet unique learning and physical needs
  • Strong commitment to continuity and the ability to work with the student over multiple years
  • Comfortable collaborating with a team of therapists and specialists (OT, PT, SLP)
  • Passion for building relationships with families and caregivers

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver in-person instruction tailored to the student’s IEP and medical requirements
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to support learning in a home environment
  • Coordinate with service providers (OT, PT, SLP) to deliver a comprehensive educational experience
  • Maintain clear and ongoing communication with the family, using Spanish as needed
  • Document student progress and adjust instruction based on individual goals
