Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher credentials
- Experience with elementary-aged students, preferably in a special education or ASD setting
- Knowledge of evidence-based strategies for supporting non-verbal and multi-mixed ability levels
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with teaching assistants, therapists, and families
- Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt curriculum for diverse learning needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Foster a safe, encouraging environment for 1st–3rd grade students with autism and other exceptional needs
- Collaborate closely with support staff to maximize each student’s learning and development
- Modify instruction and classroom activities to meet individual student needs, with appropriate use of assistive technology
- Monitor student progress, keep thorough records, and update IEPs as needed
- Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic support
